The situation
The morning maintenance shift ends at 15:00 and the evening shift starts. 11 work orders are still open: 2 High, 5 Medium and 4 Low. Without a shared backlog, the outgoing team has to remember and explain each one.
What each role sees
- Outgoing shift
- Every work order they still own, so nothing has to be recalled from memory.
- Incoming shift
- The full backlog ranked by priority, each work order with its room and photo.
- Management
- Open work orders counted by priority, and how many are unassigned.
How it plays out
- The outgoing lead opens the open work orders list. 11 open: 2 High, 5 Medium, 4 Low.
- The two High work orders are assigned to evening staff before the handover meeting starts.
- The evening shift logs in and each person sees their own work orders with photos and rooms.
- Management sees 11 open work orders, all assigned, none unassigned.
